Last week, I made fun of the dreaded List Week. And in all my hypocritical glory, here’s some great stories from 2020.
📰 In the news
A year of meme therapy
😂 There’s nothing like a bit of humor to help people through or even to highlight the absurdity of the last 12 months. Defined as “a unit of information or culture that travels from group to group,” there’s no better medium to express our existential dread than a meme. Here’s 2020s best.
How do you do, fellow kids?
👶 Online publishers have leaned into youth-focused media this year, like as a response to the pandemic. Brands and publishers have provided light, educational content to bring relief to children and parents alike. We often criticize brands for being out-of-touch, but this is a step in the right direction, and we can think of more than a few brands who should take notes.
A real rewind
⏪ Since YouTube opted out of doing a rewind this year, viral hitmakers Schmoyoho stepped in with the save. They’re the masterminds behind classics such as “The Bed Intruder Song”, “Songify This: Winning By Charlie Sheen”, and the “Double Rainbow Song.” To quote The Dark Knight, they’re “…a hero. Not the one we deserved, but the one we needed.”
Twitter tyrant transition
🇺🇸 Not to get too political, but I’ve waited 4 years for this. The @POTUS, @VP, @FLOTUS, @PressSec, @WhiteHouse, @Cabinet, etc. Twitter accounts will soon transition to the Biden Administration. In a weird way, I’ll actually miss ALL CAPITALS TWEETS. SAD!! ⓘ
ⓘ This claim about Ammo being sad is disputed.
